Professor Zannettino will raise a Blue lantern in support of blood cancer research

Professor Andrew Zannettino is the newly appointed Executive Director of Research Strategy, a joint appointment between the University of Adelaide and Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN), SA Health.

In his role as Professor of Experimental Haematology in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide, Professor Zannettino heads the Myeloma Research Laboratory, based at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI).

Professor Zannettino’s research has identified critical intrinsic (genetic and epigenetic) and extrinsic (bone marrow microenvironmental) mechanisms of disease pathogenesis and myeloma bone disease.

In addition to his research into the pathophysiology of multiple myeloma, Professor Zannettino is a recognised leader in the field of mesenchymal stem cell biology.

Professor Zannetino will proudly raise a Blue lantern as an Ambassador at Light the Night Adelaide this year in support of vital blood cancer research that will improve treatment options for patients and move us closer to a cure.
