Associate Professor Lane’s research is working to improve survival rates
Assoc. Prof Lane is Head of the Cancer Program at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.
He is a CSL Centenary Fellow (2017-2021), working on identifying new drug pathways and repurposing existing drugs to target resistant leukaemia subtypes.
Having been involved with blood cancer research for around 12 years, Assoc. Prof Lane, together with his team, has a vision to develop new translational strategies to improve survival for patients with blood cancers by understanding the formation of blood cancer cells from normal stem cells and also the way that these cells respond to disease.
He is currently leading research funded through the Leukaemia Foundation’s Strategic Ecosystem Research Partnerships (SERP) program to understand how myelodysplasia and leukaemia form from normal stem cells.
Assoc. Prof Lane is also a member of the Leukaemia Foundation’s Expert Advisory Panel.
